Beverly Kay "Bev" Plaehn, 75, of Grundy Center, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, May 22nd at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 26th at 11:00 am at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. A memorial gathering and visitation of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Committal rites will be held privately at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, 310 G Avenue, Grundy Center, IA 50638.

Bev was born on March 18, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa to her parents Leo & Lillian (Wolthoff) Moats. A lifelong Grundy Center resident, Bev attended school in Grundy Center, graduating with the class of 1960. After high school, she stayed home to raise her three children. When her children were older, Bev worked for a local accounting firm, Mosebach & Griffith.
She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and NASCAR fan but what brought the most joy to Bev was being a grandmother to her 5 cherished grandchildren.
Bev is survived by her children Jeff Plaehn of Marshalltown, IA, Mike (Barb) Plaehn of Gladbrook, IA and Shelly Plaehn of West Des Moines, IA; 5 grandchildren Alex, Eli, Chad, Cory & Isaac; sisters Bette (Bud) Parks of Fair Oaks, CA & Becky (Gary) Anderson of Colleyville, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents.
