Betty Wrage-Ehrig

March 11, 1925 — October 7, 2015

Betty M. Wrage-Ehrig, 90, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care; while under Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Burial will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery in rural Lincoln.

Betty was born on March 11, 1925 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to her parents Lester and Oleva (Jacobson) Haukoos. She grew up on a farm near Stanhope, Iowa and graduated from Stanhope High School.

Betty married Wayne C. Wrage on November 30, 1946. They lived in Lincoln, Iowa until 1959, when they moved to Grundy Center. Wayne passed away on May 7, 1979. She was employed as a telephone operator and a legal secretary for several law firms. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. On November 24, 1990 she was married to Donald Ehrig. He passed away on March 23, 2014.

She was an avid reader and quilter. She had a huge collection of salt and pepper shakers, spoons and Betty Boop figurines. Betty's greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children Wayne (Doris) Wrage, Kathy (Ronn) Ross, Tim (Jan) Wrage and Valorie (Dr. Mark) Kruse; grandchildren Lance (Stacie) Wrage, Lisa (Todd) Zinkula, Ryan (Bobbi Finarty) Ross, Kerri (Jay) Lynch, Kassi (Joe) Nelson, Dr. Megan (Austin) Reed, Nolan (Jess) Wrage, Dr. Lucas Kruse, Katie (Will) Robinson, Dr. Joshua (Katie) Kruse; 26 great-grandchildren; three step-children Jon Ehrig, Janice (Craig) Carpenter and Lou Ann Ehrig; three step-grandchildren Paul Carpenter, Mike Ehrig and Brian (Heather) Ehrig; sisters Barbara Schweppe and Mary Beth (George) Rhinehart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Wayne Wrage and Donald Ehrig; brother Harris Haukoos; sister Lyla Kalvik; granddaughter Heather Wrage Mitchell and grandson Peter Carpenter.
