Betty Lee Plaehn was born on August 23, 1929 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Charles and Marion (Taylor) Stum. On November 19, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth Plaehn in Reinbeck, IA. Together, they made their home in Reinbeck. Betty was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday school there for many years. Betty would volunteer her time and work in the art department in the Reinbeck school system. She was also very active in the local Cub Scout program. Betty had served for a number of years as secretary for the Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women?s Club and volunteered with the Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Kenneth of Reinbeck; one daughter, Carole (Mike) Toyne of Swisher, IA; three sons, Curtis (Cindy) Plaehn of Gladbrook, IA, Calvin Plaehn of Reinbeck, Thomas Plaehn of Dike, IA; four grandchildren, Nathan (Natalie) Toyne of Cedar Rapids, IA, Mike Toyne of Swisher, Clarinda (Heath) Haywood of Malin, OR, Cody (Grace) Plaehn of Wellsburg, IA; two great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Lucinda.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marion.
