Betty Lou Martin was born on March 17, 1940, in Kalo, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur A. and Ellen M. (Wegman) Martin. She attended school in the Otho, Lehigh, Duncombe and Dayton school districts, where she attended high school up through the 11 th grade. Betty was a very hard-working woman who not only raised her family but dedicated many years at Dodger Manufacturing as a Seamstress. On March 22nd, 1958, she was united in marriage to Richard Lee Loewen in Eldora, Iowa. The couple were blessed with three children: Annette, Jerry and Sherry. Betty enjoyed living life and had a wonderful love for her Garden. She spent many hours in her Garden and also enjoyed canning her vegetables right from her garden. If she wasn’t in the garden she could be found reading, sewing, doing crafts, and in her younger years attending garage sales and local flea market. She loved all that she did, but Betty’s number one joy came from the time spent making memories with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Annette Loewen, Jerry Loewen, and Sherry (Monte) Anway; grandchildren: Stephanie (Kyle) Littlepage, all of Eldora, Cheyenne (Kenyon) Gildard of Oelwein and Austin Anway of Eldora; great-grandchildren: Myles, Abel, and Kalliope Littlepage all of Eldora; one sister: Joan Lohr and one sister-in-law: Paula Martin. Along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Loewen; parents: Arthur and Ellen Martin; in- laws Ray and Idella Loewen, siblings: Sandra Martin, Linda Sue Martin, Dennis Martin, Florence Dickman, Gene Martin, Mary Bell, Sherry Watt, Elsie Wyatts and Mabel Bell.
