Bernice Jones, 82, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Rev. Joel Love officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Township Cemetery rural Morrison, Iowa. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the French – Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Bernice Ann Jones was born October 27, 1930, in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Helmuth and Elfa (Michaels) Bielefeldt. Bernice grew up in rural Buffalo County attended country school through the 8th grade. In 1946 she moved to the Reinbeck area to be a nanny for several families in the area. On April 28, 1956, Bernice was united in marriage to Ralph LeRoy Jones in Morrison, Iowa. After marriage they lived, worked and raised a family on a farm near Reinbeck. She was member United Church of Christ and Eve Circle.
Bernice enjoyed cooking, baking cookies, gardening. Most of all her family was a priority in her life. She was a grandmother to many not just her own.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Jones of Reinbeck; Jim Jones and his wife Brenda of Dike, Bill Jones and his wife Pam of Dike, Bob Jones and his wife Shawna of Grundy Center and Don Jones and his wife Tammy of Traer;16 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren: 2 sisters, Delores Bielefeldt of Cochrane WI, Peggy Benoit of Buffalo City, WI; sisters-in-law, Florence Jones, Avis Jones and Romelle Bielefeldt and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; four brothers and four sisters.
