Bernerd Kruger Sr

Bernerd Henry Kruger Sr., 93, of Holland, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013, 10:30 A.M. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa. Burial will follow funeral services at the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
Bernerd was born the son of Barney and Ora (Meents) Kruger on March 3, 1919, in Holland, Iowa where he received his education.
On January 28, 1942, Bernerd was united in marriage to Carrie Berends at The Christian Reform Church in Parkersburg, Iowa.
Bernerd farmed his whole life in the Holland area. He was a member of Colfax Center Church in Holland for over 70 years. Bernerd enjoyed farming, woodworking and spending time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Berdene(George) Harms John (Henrietta) Kruger, Klaas (Elsie) Kruger, Claradean (Herman) Harrenstein, Onieta (John) Meyer and Neona (John) Seehusen.
Bernerd is survived by his wife Carrie of Grundy Center; children, Barb (Paul)Jungling of Aplington and Bernerd (Marlene) Kruger Jr. of Waterloo; 8 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
