Barbara Joyce Dellit, 57, of Grundy Center, died Monday October 16 of injuries sustained when she was struck by a car.
Barbara was born August 1, 1949 in Rockwell, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Elaine "Peter" Taylor. She graduated from North Central High School in 1967 and from North Iowa Area Community College in 1969. On August 22, 1970 she was united in marriage to Ronald Dellit at the United Methodist Church in Manly. Iowa. She worked for many years in LeMars, Iowa; Lincoln and Henderson, Nebraska and Grundy Center as a secretary. Barbara moved to Grundy Center in 1979 when her husband obtained a teaching position in the Grundy Center School system. In 1990 she went back to school and in 1992 fulfilled her dream to become a nurse. She had been employed by the medical clinic, now Iowa Health Physicians in Grundy Center since that time.
Barbara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center, where she was church secretary briefly and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also involved in the Girl Scout program.
Barbara is survived by her husband: Ron: a daughter: Marilyn and her husband Brent Askelson of Marion, Iowa; a son: Bradley and his wife Andrea Dellit of Suffolk, Virginia; two grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Brady Askelson of Marion, Iowa; her parents: Howard and Elaine Taylor of Clear Lake, Iowa; two brothers: Rex and his wife Connie Taylor of Hanlontown, Iowa and Norman Taylor of Hanlontown, Iowa; two sisters: Kathleen and her husband Pete Tollenaere of Fairfield, Iowa, and Joyce Taylor of Marshalltown, Iowa.
