Avenell (Flower) DeCamp, 88, of Eldora, died on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Eldora with Pastors Mark Chapman and Jarrod Bartholomew officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday beginning at 9:30 am until service time. Committal services will be at 2:30 pm on Friday at the Boone Memorial Gardens in Boone, Iowa. Avenell was born March 9, 1923 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, daughter of Paul and Nellie (Summers) Flower. She was raised in Eagle Grove where she graduated from high school then continued her education at AIB in Des Moines. On June 26, 1941 Avenell was united in marriage to Leonard K. DeCamp. They moved often due to Leonard's 20 year career with the U.S. Navy. Upon Leonard's retirement, she lived in Eagle Grove for five years, Forest City for five years, then in the Jordan and Boone area where she resided until moving to Eldora in 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eldora.

She is survived by a son, Larry DeCamp of Marshalltown; daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Bartholomew of Eldora and Dona (Gary) McEnelly of Baxter, Minnesota; grandchildren, Rev. Jarrod (Julie) Bartholomew, Cassie (Lem) Elechicon, Janel (Chuck) Brekke, Amy Twedt and her fiancé David Osborn, Emily (Hans) Albrecht, and Lisa DeCamp; sister-in-law, Helen Flower; by 12 great-grandchildren; and by several loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on November 25, 1992; her parents; brothers, Wm. Paul Flower and Marlen Flower; sister, Evilo (Flower) Pardun; brother-in-law, Lloyd Pardun; and nephew, David Flower.
