Arthur Weiss

Arthur Weiss Jr. 82, of Dike, Iowa, died Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Grundy Care Center while under the care of Care Initiative Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 with a time of fellowship immediately following until 7:00 p.m. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Dike Chapel, Dike, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
Arthur Jr. was born May 14, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Arthur Sr. and Clara (Beckman) Weiss. He graduated from Leyden High School in Franklin Park, IL. Art married Delores Hamblin in 1951, they later divorced; in 1982 Art married Royalie Ellsworth (Anderson) in Hudson, Iowa. Art was a sales representative for heavy construction equipment for many years. He worked at D&R Delivery from 1993 to 2008 when he retired. He enjoyed cooking, bird watching, and loved to sing. Art also enjoyed sharing his many stories and spending time with his family and friends.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helen.
He is survived by his wife Royalie; children Vernon (Ardee) Weiss, Danny (Robin) Weiss, Charlene (Steve) Schmitz, Craig (Nikki) Weiss; step-children, Dan (Marta) Anderson and Dannette Anderson; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Norma) Weiss and Lee (Sandy) Weiss. Art's kind smile and sincerity will be missed by everyone who knew him.
