Arthur O. Orgell, 85, of Eldora, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Valley View Nursing Home in Eldora, Iowa. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor Bruce Zimmermann officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery in Eldora. Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2007, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. .
Arthur Otto Orgell was born July 13, 1921, in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Otto A.F. and Martha E. (Marske) Orgell. He received his education in Eldora, and graduated from the Eldora High School in 1939. On November 17, 1942, Arthur was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country-attaining the rank of Sergeant, until February 11, 1946, when he was honorably discharged. Upon returning home from military service, Arthur became a carpenter. Throughout his career, Arthur worked on many projects. He also made several bookshelves and cabinets for St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Arthur was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, where he had also sung in the choir for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, league bowling, as well as golfing in men?s league in Eldora. He was an avid Iowa State and Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by one sister Alma Meier of Iowa Falls, Iowa; three nieces Joyce Meier of Ames, Iowa; Janis Meier of Ames, Iowa; and JoAnn Mannise and her husband Peter of Northridge, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Elva Orgell; a baby brother in infancy; and one brother-in-law Floyd Meier.
