Arlo Johansen

Arlo K. Johansen, 80, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 5, 2017. Services are private. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Arlo was born on October 17, 1936 in Hampton, Iowa. He was the son of Karl and Mae (Statlander) Johansen. He was raised in rural Geneva, Iowa and graduated from Geneva High School in the class of 1954. Arlo worked for 36 years as the Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor at the Iowa State Training School for Boys in Eldora, Iowa. He retired in 1995. Arlo was united in marriage to Beverly Bork on September 3, 1957. Together they welcomed three children into their family.

Arlo built his house in Eldora and enjoyed working on his continuous home improvements. He also enjoyed working on old cars. However, his true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Arlo is survived by his wife Beverly Johansen, his son Dale (Barb) Johansen, daughters Valerie Johansen (Alan Dornink) and Charlene (Bob) Jemes; granddaughters Bailey Patterson, Emily Johansen Stoll, Molly Johansen, Kayla Jemes. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and two sisters.
