Arlene N. Mohr, 82, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, January 8, 2006, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital -Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Joel Love officiating. Burial will be at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2006, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at French-Hand Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.
Arlene was born March 31, 1923 at home on the farm in rural Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of William and Alvena (Jones) Klink. She was raised on the family farm north west of Reinbeck and graduated from Reinbeck High School. On June 12, 1946, Arlene was united in marriage to Donald Carstensen Mohr at the United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, Iowa. After their marriage Arlene and Donald lived in Gladbrook for a short time and then purchased their farm in rural Reinbeck. Arlene worked as a homemaker and farmwife. Her husband Donald died October 7, 1981, and Arlene continued to live on the farm. Arlene was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck, the Royal Neighbors, the Reinbeck Saddle Club, and had been a former secretary and treasurer for the Cedar Valley Polka Club. She also loved to cook and bake and enjoyed square dancing.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Weymouth and her husband H.B. of Gainesville, Virginia; three grandchildren, Greg A. Mohr of Ohio; Granger G. Gallegos and his wife Misty of Burns, Wyoming, and Kenton A. Gallegos of Reinbeck, Iowa; one great-grandchild Kylie Tierra Gallegos; and one sister Ferne Wiarda and her husband Dean of Grundy Center, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald C. Mohr; and her son Gary Lee Mohr.
