Ardath Anna Unrau Johnson, 98, of West Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, March 25, 2006, at the Westminster Healthcare Center in Lafayette, Indiana.
Ardath was born August 20, 1907 in Reinbeck, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Florence (Slessor) Unrau. She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1925. She attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls for three years, transferred to Iowa State University in Ames, where she completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management in 1934. For a time she was food supervisor in a Residence Hall at Texas College of Arts and Industries at Kingsville, Texas. She then entered graduate school at Purdue University as a Teaching Assistant in Restaurant, Hotel, Institutional Management and Tourism. In 1939 she received a Masters of Science Degree. In 1939 she was united in marriage to J. Robert Johnson of West Lafayette, Indiana. He died in 1966. For several years she was an instructor in Restaurant, Hotel, Institutional Management and Tourism at Purdue University, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Lafayette, Hope Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star and a member of Delta Chapter of Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society.
There are no immediate survivors, but there are four nephews: James Unrau of Colleyville, Texas, Jerry Unrau of Spring, Texas, John Unrau of Spencer, Iowa and Robert Emmert of Hudson, Iowa.
