Anna Plaehn

Anna Marie Plaehn, 95 of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery. A visitation will be held at French Hand Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Anna Marie was born on August 14, 1916 in Rice, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Emma Lauterbach (Thoms). Anna Marie graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1934. She was also a graduate of the Pitzi's School of Beauty in Waterloo, Iowa. She worked as a beautician throughout her life and owned her own business for many years.

She was united in marriage to her first husband Ray McCulloch on February 28, 1938. Ray passed away in 1944. Anna was united in marriage to her second husband Chuck Plaehn on December 12, 1947. They enjoyed many happy years together. They made their home in rural Reinbeck and raised their four children there. Chuck passed away in 2003.

Anna Marie was an avid golfer, bridge player and pianist. She was a 60 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past Worthy Matron and member of the White Shrine. Anna Marie was a long time member of the Oak Leaf Country Club, a former 4-H Leader and a great cook and gardener. She was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck.

She is survived by her daughters Janeen (Dale) Danielsen, Julie (Vern) Knaack and Janell (Martin) Ramsey; grandchildren Todd Danielsen, Penni (Ed) Hancock, Andrea (Doug) Rowe, Polly (Marc)Murphy, Patrick (Lori) Knaack and Brad Ramsey; 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; brother Guy Donald Lauterbach and son Jim Lee Plaehn.
