Anna M. "Peggy" Burdick was born on August 22, 1919, in Oelwein, IA, daughter of Elmer J. and Sylvia Esther (Loyd) Thompson. Her parents moved to West Union, IA in 1924 where she spent most of her childhood, attending the rural country schools to the 8th grade, and graduating from West Union High School in 1937. On December 21, 1936, Anna was united in marriage to Clayton Russell Burdick of Fayette, IA; in St. Louis, MO. The couple moved to Reinbeck, IA in November 1946, where Anna worked various jobs, and raised her four children. Anna was a member of the United Methodist Church of Reinbeck, and was involved with several different Committees within the church. She also a member of Eastern Star and served as a president of the Past Matrons Club.
Surviving relatives include three sons; Kenneth R. and his wife, Mary of Reinbeck, Russell M. and his wife, Evelyn of Reinbeck, James L. and his wife, Virginia of St. Charles, MO; one daughter, Elaine J. Olsen and her husband, Tony of Clinton, IA; four grandsons, and four granddaughters; and 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton in 1991; one sister, Clara Hooper; one great-grandson, Logan Thede.
