Angeline "Angie" H. Arends, 90, of Dike, Iowa passed away of natural causes on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Dike United Methodist Church in Dike, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Stout Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Angie was born on June 17, 1922 in Wellsburg, Iowa; the daughter of Henry and Stena Smeins. She was raised in the Grundy County area. Angie was united in marriage to Edward Arends on September 21, 1940 at the Christian Reformed Church in Parkersburg, Iowa. Together they welcomed three children into their family. Angie was a homemaker prior to Ed's death in 1960. After his death she was employed with the Dike Community School as a cook until her retirement in 1985. Following her retirement Angie stayed active by baking and quilting from her home.

Angie was an active member of the Dike United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's group. Angie served as a 4H leader. However, her true joy in life was spending time with her family. She especially loved hosting breakfast every Saturday for her family in her home.

Angie is survived by her son Norman Arends of Parkersburg, IA; daughter Lynda (Bob) Berry of Waterloo, IA; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother Bob (Jan) Smeins of Parkersburg, IA; sister Joan (Roger) Kussatz of Cedar Falls, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward Arends; son Roger Arends; sister Hilda Siems and brother LaVern Smeins.
