Andreas F. Kasemeier, 91, of Iowa Falls formerly of Eldora, died from congestive heart failure on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 14, 2004 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with the family present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Andreas was born April 30, 1913, in Sumner, Iowa, son of Andreas and Emma "Koch" Kasemeier. Andreas was baptized in the Christian faith on May 25, 1913 and confirmed on April 1, 1928 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Sumner. He attended and graduated from Sumner public School in May of 1932. On February 6, 1935 he was united in marriage to Elsie L. Burh at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Sumner. He owned a retail shoe and repair business for a number of years before WWII. In January 1943 he entered military service serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater of operations for a period of 33 months.
In 1946 he and his wife moved to Eldora where he was employed by the State Training School for Boy for 32 years, retiring in 1978. He also worked as a volunteer for the Eldora hospital and Iowa Department of Human Services for 10 years. Andreas continued to make his home in Eldora until June of 2003 before moving to assisted living in Iowa Falls.
He is survived by a sister, Frieda (Ralph) Clement of Waterloo, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding him in death was his wife in 1989, sister, Hedwig, and brother, Reinhard.
