Alice Babinat

September 23, 1926 — November 8, 2005

Alice M. Babinat, 79, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Tuesday November 8, 2005, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday November 11, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Reinbeck. Father Dennis Quint will officiate. Burial will follow in the Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday November 10, 2005 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. There will be a Scriptural Wake Service held on Thursday at 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Alice was born September 23, 1926 in Easton, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph E. and Grace E. (Sieberling) Barrer. She attended school in Mitchelville, Iowa and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1945. On October 8, 1945 she was united in marriage to Francis John Babinat at the Blessing Catholic Church, rural Hudson, Iowa. The couple lived in Hudson from 1945 until 1951 at which time they moved to Cedar Falls until 1952. In 1952 they moved to Voorhies until 1977. In 1977 they moved to Reinbeck. Alice worked as a mother and homemaker for her family. For a short while she worked at the Reinbeck School before working as a cook for the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck for 9 years. Alice was a member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Prayer Partners.

Survivors include her husband: Francis; her 7 children: Fran Babinat of Charlotte, North Carolina, Larry and his wife Deb Babinat of Reinbeck, Iowa, Tom and his wife Jody Babinat of Grundy Center, Iowa, Mary and her husband Kenny Kiewiet of Grundy Center, Iowa, Joanie and her husband Vern Rodie of Holland, Iowa, Paul and his wife Barb Babinat of Dinsdale, Iowa, and Dorothy Babinat and her friend Stacy Nelson of Rogers, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and a sister: Mary and her husband Jim Jones of Panora, Iowa.

Alice was preceded in death by parents; her brother: Arnold Barrer; a granddaughter: Kelly Jo Babinat; a sister in law: Mary Margaret Barrer; and a niece Teresa Jones.
