Alexis "Lexi" Ann Wood, 17, of Gladbrook, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 14, 2017 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.  A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until  the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center.  Online condolences may be made to Lexi’s family at www.abelsfuneralhomes.com

Alexis Ann Wood, daughter of Kari (Stocker) Staker and  Matthew Wood was born on June 15, 2000 in Waterloo, Iowa.  She received her education from Monticello School and most recently at College Community School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lexi loved listening to music and reading, spending time with her sister and brother, kayaking, technology and spending time with family and friends.  She was also an avid lover of animals, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers.

Lexi is survived by her mother, Kari Staker of Hudson, Iowa; father, Matthew Wood of Traer, Iowa; sister, Calleigh Staker; brother, Dalton Wildeboer; maternal grandparents, Nancy Stocker and Robert Fischer of Gladbrook, Iowa, Roger Stocker (Helga Rauba) of Marshalltown, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Neal and Kathy Wood of Traer; half sisters, Madison and McKenzie Wood; uncle and aunt, Greg and Annie Stocker of Lincoln, Iowa; aunt and uncle, Melanie and David Gage of Des Moines, Iowa; and many step cousins.

Lexi was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Bill and Helen Schwake, J.C. and Ruth Wood, and Harry and Florence Blohm.
