Albert Ziesman

January 22, 1920 — March 7, 2007

Albert C.W. Ziesman, 87, of Eldora, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at his residence, while under the care of North Iowa Hospice. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 12, 2007, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Garden Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa, with full military rites provided by the Walter-Sayer Post 182 of the American Legion and Roll-Harless Post 3974 of the VFW. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2007, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Pre-School of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Eldora.

Albert Carl William Ziesman was born January 22, 1920, at home on the farm in rural Eldora, Iowa-Pleasant Township, the son of Arnold Reinhold and Clara Alvina (Jass) Ziesman. He attended Goose Greek School #4. Albert served his country in the United States Army Air Force-First Service Squadron as a mechanic. He served during World War II from October 23, 1941 until he was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945. On August 18, 1946, Albert was united in marriage to Irene Balvanz at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Eldora. After their marriage, they began farming. Albert farmed in Hardin County all of his life. He had been an active member of the Hardin County Farm Bureau, serving several years, including terms as president and voting delegate. He was a lifetime member of the Walter-Sayer Post #182 of the American Legion-and a member of the First Service Squadron of the Army Air Force Veteran?s Group. Albert had also served as Co. Manager of Archer Oil for over forty years. He was a long time member of the New Providence-Pleasant Community Fund. Albert was also a lifetime member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Eldora, where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Church Treasurer, and an usher.

He is survived by his wife Irene Ziesman of Eldora, Iowa; one daughter Linda Kruger and her husband Eldon of Holland, Iowa; one son Roger Ziesman and his wife Sharon of Eldora, Iowa; one grandchild; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nine step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Laura Lange of Adel, Iowa; Reba Wehrman of Valparaiso, Indiana; two brothers Edward Ziesman and his wife Ione of Eldora, Iowa; Melvin Nehring and his wife Joyce of St. Charles, Iowa; one sister-in-law Marlene Ziesman of Eldora, Iowa; and one brother-in-law Herman Lange of Eldora, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Walter Ziesman and one brother-in-law Wendell Wehrman.
