A mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 28, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora for Agnes Mary Oppold age 93 of Iowa Falls, who died Sunday, August 23, 2015 in Des Moines, Iowa. Father Tony Kruse will be officiating. Burial following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Eldora. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, with a vigil service to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Agnes Mary was born on December 13, 1921, the daughter of John and Jennie (Sharpshair) Lawless from Eldora. She graduated from the Owasa High School in 1939. She worked in the Agricultural Administration Office in Iowa Falls for several years prior to her marriage to Melvin Oppold on February 17, 1942. Their farming and livestock operation was in the Owasa-Eldora area where they lived. She worked many years as a poll worker at the elections in Jackson Twp. and was a hospice volunteer for several years. She enjoyed traveling locally and abroad, her hobby of scrapbooking and was a faithful member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church.
Agnes Mary is survived by son Dan (Patricia) of Eldora, Iowa and daughter Kathryn of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren Tamara Menke (Jason), Deborah See (Mark), Brandon Weiss (Traci), Kristel Weiss Mayfield (Bobby), and Stacy Uhl (Elliot); and 9 greatgrandchildren Andrew, Carter and Kennedy Menke, Abigail and Landon See, Alexandria and Kaileigh Weiss, and Brayden and Ava Mayfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, and brothers Dale and Harry Lawless.
