A. Grace Swaim, 91, of Eldora, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. Burial will follow at Sheppard Cemetery, rural Union, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2008, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established.
Anna Grace (Trupp) Swaim was born September 7, 1916, in Union, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Charles and Flossie Fay (Armstrong) Trupp. Grace was raised and educated in the Gifford and Union area, graduating from Union High School in 1934. On November 27, 1938, Grace was united in marriage to Cecil A. Swaim in Marshalltown, Iowa. After their marriage, they farmed in rural Hubbard and Eldora. They also lived in Madison Missouri and near Owasa. They retired from farming in 1978 and moved to Eldora. On December 5, 2000, Grace's husband Cecil died, and she continued to make Eldora her home. In September 2002, she moved to Ashbrook Assisted Living in Iowa Falls and to Scenic Manor in January 2008.
Grace was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora, and was an active member of their Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening and sewing. Grace was also a member of the Dorothy's Senior Center Card Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Pearce and her husband Bob of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Lois Tidman and her husband James of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; one son, Jerry Swaim of Clive, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and one son-in-law, Dennis Tidman of Eldora, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Swaim; one daughter, Ruth Tidman; and one brother, Charles Trupp.
